Burglar Enters Through Window, Leaves Knife on Bed: Oak Park Crime Blotter

A person entered the back window of a home, removed thousands of dollars of items and left a kitchen knife in the homeowners’ bed.

OAK PARK, IL — The following information was provided by the Oak Park Police Department.

According to Oak Park police, a unidentified person(s) entered a home at the 900 block of Washington on Tuesday, May 30 between 7:40 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Police say the person entered through the home’s unlocked rear window and removed a MacBook Air, several pieces of gold and silver jewelry a diamond necklace and designer purses.

Police said the intruder also removed a knife from the kitchen. That knife was later found on the homeowners’ bed. The estimated loss is $3,705.

May 25-28 Burglary: A person entered a home at the 400 block of Washington some time between Thursday, May 25 and Sunday, May 28. Police say the person(s) entered the complex’s storage garage through a back door. The person(s) removed items from four separate storage units. According to police, they removed two buckets of paint and two red Schwinn BMX bicycles. The total estimated loss is $380.

May 31 Battery: A man was approached by a stranger on the CTA green line train on Wednesday, 31, police said. When the victim would not speak with him, the unknown man followed the victim off the train to street level near the 700 block of South Boulevard. There, the man got into the victim’s personal space. The victim reportedly felt threatened, so the offender picked up a brick and threw it at the victim, hitting him on the wrist. The suspect then fled southbound down Oak Park Avenue. He is described as a white male 30- to 40-years old, with a husky build.
