Wrigleyville Burglar Strikes While Victims Sleep, Police Say

Police are warning Wrigleyville residents about a cat burglar who has struck four times in the 1000 block of West Newport since last summer.

The thief has entered homes while his victims are asleep during early morning hours. In one case, he got into a sleeping woman’s bed and touched her, police said.

The four cases on Newport were reported on July 23 at 4 a.m.; August 27 at 2 a.m.; February 18 at 4:30 a.m.; and February 25 at 5:25 a.m.

Police said a fifth case was reported in the 3000 block of North Kenmore at 5:23 a.m. on October 24.

The burglar is described as a white man in his 20’s who stands about 5’10” tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call Area North detectives at 312.744.8263 regarding pattern P17-N-055(CA).
