POLICE WARNING: Rash of Home Invasions Targeting the elderly in Northside Neighborhoods
Seven or more homes have been targeted in Chicago’s Albany Park, Edgewater, Jefferson Park, Lakeview, North Center and Sauganash neighborhoods.
According to police, men posing as City Utility Workers are knocking on the door and telling the residents there are water issues in the area and they need to check inside.
They distract the homeowner and the others sneak inside to steal items like cash and jewelry.
There are four white or Hispanic male suspects ranging between 25 to 60 years old and heights between 5’6″ – 6’02”.
Police ask residents to take note of suspicious activity and warn their elderly neighbors.
There have been many infrastructure projects in these neighborhoods recently so it is easily to believe there are City workers in the area.
Utility workers might drop off a flier in your mailbox if your water needs to be shut off, but they will never ask to come inside to inspect anything.
